The Assistant Recrea on Services Supervisor supports the
Recrea on Services Supervisor in delivering tac cal,
opera onal leadership such as staff onboarding and training,
scheduling staff and other administra ve du es to the fitness
and recrea on teams, as assigned. They are responsible for
the safety & supervision of staff and patrons during a range of
community fitness and recrea on program opera ons
Success in this posi on requires a customer‐service
orienta on, with a high degree of flexibility, crea vity, and
leadership.
The willingness and ability to work varying schedules to meet
opera onal requirements is expected for this posi on.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A diploma in Recrea on or Fitness Administra on
completed or substan ally in progress is preferred.
Preference will be given to those who are developing
educa on and skills in rec/or fitness administra on
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in recrea on and/
or fitness, including at least one (1) year experience in a
supervisory role
Any of these in combina on are considered assets in
these posi ons:
Current Group Fitness Instructor Cer fica on, Weight
Training Cer fica on, Personal Training Cer fica on or
equivalents
Current BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders for Weight
Training, Group Fitness or equivalent
Na onal Coaching Cer ficate, High Five Training, Early
Childhood Educa on Cer ficate, Group Fitness
Cer fica on, recrea on leadership training or other
equivalent professional cer fica on.
Experience and understanding with outdoor recrea on
equipment including sport specific equipment, sailing
dinghy, paddling vessels and powered watercra
Standard First Aid with CPR‐C with AED
Sa sfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector
check

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of current prac ces in recrea on, fitness,
and recrea on administra on.
Demonstrated ability to organize, implement and direct
others in the delivery of recrea on and fitness programs
and services for various ages and interest groups
including large scale events.
Demonstrated verbal and wri en communica on skills,
including excellent customer services and public rela on
skills.
Knowledge and proven skills building rela onships with
patrons and competency dealing with children and the
general public in stressful situa ons.
Demonstrated ability to de‐escalate difficult situa ons.
Demonstrated ability to monitor and maintain budgets
Proficient computer skills including MS Office (Excel,
Word and Outlook) and other related office equipment.
This is a full‐ me posi on of 35 hours per week and offers a
comprehensive benefits package including paid vaca on
me, and extended health and dental coverage. The normal
hourly rate is $33.57 but ranges between $32.11 to $36.49
per hour, dependent on experience.
